We hope that everyone had great fun trick or treating at Halloween and enjoyed their break.


Sing-Out-Loud: 3rd to 6th classes will get the fantastic opportunity to appear on stage in the National Opera House as part of the Sing-Out-Loud concert on Wednesday November 14th, 2018. Rehearsals are in full swing at the moment and the children will be singing a wide repertoire of songs from pop to musical to Christmas Carols. All children will be going home for a half day next Wednesday at 12.30pm. Children from 3rd to 6th class will be able to go home and change, have a bite to eat and they will return to the school at 3.15pm sharp to get the bus to Wexford. Children will need to wear blue jeans and a plain coloured t-shirt (not black or white), one solid colour blue, red, yellow, green etc. No logos on the t-shirt. The children can bring a drink and a snack with them for the break during rehearsals. The concert starts at 19.30 and tickets can now be purchased directly from the National Opera House (053 9122144). The concert will end at 21.15 and children not travelling home by bus can be collected directly afterwards from the rear of the Opera House. Please inform a teacher so children can be crossed off the list as they are collected. The children travelling home by bus will arrive back in Gusserane NS at 21.50 approx and can be collected at the school gates. We would ask that if you have not already filled in and returned the permission slip with the money for the bus that you do so at your earliest convenience, should you have misplaced this slip please contact Sandra in the office and she will give you a replacement form. We hope that everyone will enjoy this wonderful show.


Gymstar Gymnastics: All children will be taking part in gymnastics for a six-week session every Thursday morning starting tomorrow, Thursday November 8th, 2018. The coaches from Gymstars will be giving the lessons to the children and they all really enjoyed this important strand of the PE curriculum last year. The cost for the six weeks is €12 and can be paid as soon as possible.


Meetings: If a parent/guardian wishes to meet a teacher to discuss any matters relating to their child(ren) this can be facilitated by ringing or e-mailing the school office to arrange a time suitable to both parent/guardian and teacher. Teachers are not to be contacted by any other means. Absence notes/changes for collection/ notes on leaving early can be given directly to the class teacher. Teachers are only too happy to meet with parents to discuss any mater relating to their child(ren).


Science Week: Takes place from November 12th to November 16th, 2018. The children in all classes will participate in a variety of science related lessons. We hope to welcome Secondary Students from Ramsgrange Community College and their teacher to the school to conduct a series of experiments with all classes and to talk to the children about Science in Secondary School.


Gardening: There will be two more lessons for all classes this term with gardening instructor Michael Costello, Heritage in Schools on Thursday the 29th of November and Thursday the 13th of December 2018. If you have not already paid the cost per lesson is €1.00 and this can be brought in on the day.


New School Sports Jerseys: The school were delighted to receive a set of 24 Jerseys with the school crest and in the school colours (navy and sky blue with a little yellow) which will be used for sports activities e.g rackard league, rounders league, soccor blitz, mini seven’s etc. We would like to thank AceMotor Factors (Nigel Molloy) for sponsoring this set of Jersey’s for the school. We hope that the children will wear them with pride and enjoyment in all the various sporting activities that the school takes part in.

Christmas Party: 12.15pm Tuesday December 18th, 2018 – this party is organized by the

Parents Association and we would like to thank them for all their work.

Nativity Play: 1pm Wednesday December 19th, 2018 – further details will be sent to

Infant parents closer to the time.

Bric-a-Brac: 1.30pm Wednesday December 19th, 2018 – Money raised will go towards

buying Oxfam gifts for children and families in poorer regions of the world, the children in each class decide on the gifts to purchase and for the purchase of gardening equipment in the school.


School Closures: Wednesday the 14th of November 2018 the school will close at 12.30pm to accommodate Sing-Out-Loud. Friday the 21st of December 2018 the school will close at 12.30pm for the Christmas Holidays.


Playground meeting: We have been asked to inform all parents that a playground meeting will take place today Wednesday 7th November @ 8pm in the Complex in Ballycullane. This is an important meeting to move the project forward. Could parents make a special effort to attend please.
